Coffee-pot Ballerina sculpture in ceramic.

Pioneering cross-disciplinary project within the Cardiff School of Art & Design, combining digital design processes with craft-based material methods.

Worked with a student from the MA Ceramics course to create a ceramic object that would imply a sense of movement and metamorphosis between a metallic coffee-pot and a ballerina figurine – both ‘found’ objects.

Digitisation of two objects via challenging 3D Laser scanning and cross-platform CAD processes.

The spliced data was translated as a physical model via 3D printing to be used as a pattern for slip casting in clay. The Z Corp 3D printer, prior to removal of prototype part

Digital tools facilitated the project to fruition where hand-working methods had failed to get the desired effect.

Project awaiting completion.
